Therefore, it is important to have control of moisture in the production of wooden constructions. Wood having a moisture content of more than 18-20% is at risk of degrading by fungi. A stable, low moisture content is therefore often a prerequisite for successful wooden constructions. The wood moisture sensor applies two electrodes into the wood, allowing an electric current to be passed through the wood from one electrode to another in the longitudinal direction of the wood. As damp wood conducts electricity better than dry wood, the measurement of electrical resistance can be converted into a humidity level.
